Visa Launches Stablecoin Platform for Banks and Fintechs

Visa has introduced the Visa Stablecoin Platform (VSP), a new solution designed to help banks, fintech companies, and crypto businesses adopt stablecoins more easily. The platform provides a single Visa-managed environment where institutions can manage digital wallets, issue stablecoins, transfer tokens, and redeem them.

VSP combines Visa's Wallet as a Service infrastructure with its global payment network, liquidity management tools, and risk mitigation capabilities. This allows financial institutions to integrate stablecoins into existing payment, settlement, and treasury operations without building their own blockchain infrastructure.

According to Visa, the platform is designed to simplify stablecoin adoption while meeting the security, compliance, and governance standards required by regulated financial institutions.

Visa processes approximately $15 trillion in payment volume every year and already handles billions of dollars in stablecoin transactions. With VSP, the company aims to expand stablecoin adoption across its network of around 15,000 financial institutions and more than 200 million merchant locations worldwide. Visa says businesses will benefit from faster, lower-cost settlements while maintaining transparent, blockchain-based transaction records.

At launch, the platform will support Open USD (OUSD), the stablecoin developed by Open Standard. Visa will also continue supporting USDC, issued by Circle, and USDG, issued by Paxos, as part of its broader digital asset strategy. The company is one of the key partners behind the Open Standard initiative, which aims to build an open stablecoin infrastructure for global payments.

The Visa Stablecoin Platform complements the company's existing digital asset offering, which includes stablecoin-linked payment cards, the Visa Direct cross-border payment service, and advisory solutions. The platform is aimed at banks, fintech firms, crypto platforms, and developers looking to deploy secure, blockchain-powered payment solutions.
