XRPL Ready for Major Upgrade
XRP Ledger prepares for version 3.2.0 as developers highlight strong network stability.
XRP Ledger is preparing to roll out its highly anticipated 3.2.0 update. Ahead of the release, David Schwartz, former Ripple CTO and one of the key architects behind XRPL, emphasized that the network remains stable and is operating as expected.
On June 17, Schwartz briefly took his XRPL hub offline to perform the upgrade. While the maintenance window was initially expected to last around 10 minutes, the process ultimately took just under 18 minutes due to the software taking longer than anticipated to shut down. After the update was completed, Schwartz confirmed that the system was functioning normally.
According to recently published data, the XRP Ledger network has maintained a high level of stability over the past month. Only one significant incident was recorded, involving connectivity issues between nodes, which was most likely caused by a localized network outage.
The upcoming 3.2.0 release is designed to improve the performance, security, and scalability of XRP Ledger. It also introduces several bug fixes affecting features such as Single Asset Vaults, the Lending Protocol (XLS-66), the decentralized exchange (DEX), and Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPT).
One of the most notable changes is the rebranding of the existing rippled server software to xrpld. Node operators will be required to complete the migration process in line with the official guidelines provided by the XRPL development team.
Current XRPL data shows that approximately 14% of network nodes are already running the new version. Project developers estimate that the upgrade could reduce memory usage by as much as 40%, lower infrastructure costs, and support the continued expansion of asset tokenization and payment-related services.
Schwartz shared the network stability metrics to reinforce confidence among partners and financial institutions ahead of the update's deployment on the XRP Ledger mainnet.
