Ripple Plans $750 Million Share Buyback

Ripple plans a $750M share buyback that could raise its valuation to $50B despite XRP’s recent price drop.

Ripple Plans $750 Million Share Buyback

Ripple Labs is planning to buy back up to $750 million worth of its shares from investors and employees, according to information reported by Bloomberg. The program is expected to run until April and could increase the company’s valuation to around $50 billion.

Such a valuation would represent a 25% increase compared with the company’s position after its November 2025 funding round, when Ripple raised $500 million. The company is not currently publicly listed and, for now, has no plans to go public. CEO Monica Long previously emphasized that Ripple has sufficient internal capital and does not need external investors.

The share buyback comes as Ripple continues expanding its business beyond the cryptocurrency market itself. The company recently acquired prime broker Hidden Road for $1.2 billion, as well as financial management systems provider GTreasury. Ripple has also announced plans to pursue a financial services license in Australia through the acquisition of a local payments company.

Ripple also reported that it has already processed more than $100 billion in transactions. Meanwhile, its stablecoin, Ripple USD, has surpassed $1 billion in market capitalization since its launch in December 2024.

Despite the company’s growth and expansion, the price of the XRP cryptocurrency has recently dropped significantly. Over the past six months, its value has fallen by more than 53%.

At the same time, Ripple Labs is seeking approval to operate as a national trust bank in the United States. The company’s application has already received conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the U.S. regulator overseeing the banking sector. Obtaining such a license could allow Ripple to implement its financial technologies directly within the banking system, bringing it closer to institutions such as the Federal Reserve System.
