New Protection in Trust Wallet
Trust Wallet introduces a tool that detects address manipulation to protect users from rising crypto scams.
Trust Wallet has introduced a new security tool designed to protect users from a growing type of cryptocurrency scam. The feature, called Address Poisoning Protection, is intended to detect attempts to manipulate wallet addresses and warn users before they send funds to the wrong destination.
Initially, the protection will be available in the mobile version of Trust Wallet and will support 32 networks compatible with the EVM standard. The company says that more networks will be added in the future.
The scam known as address poisoning involves criminals sending tiny transactions from addresses that closely resemble legitimate ones. The goal is to confuse users who later copy such an address from their transaction history and accidentally send funds to the attacker’s wallet. The differences between addresses can be extremely subtle, often hidden within the middle of a long string of characters.
The new feature automatically analyzes addresses used in transactions and alerts the user if it detects suspicious similarities. The system uses data about known scams provided by HashDit and Binance Security. The app also displays the addresses side by side, making it easier to spot differences.
According to cybersecurity firm Cyvers, more than one million preparations for such attacks appear on Ethereum alone every day. Trust Wallet estimates that around 34,000 attack attempts occur every hour, targeting approximately 17 million potential victims.
The problem of cryptocurrency fraud continues to grow. Analysis by Chainalysis shows that in 2025 users lost a record $17 billion in such schemes. Methods involving impersonation with the help of artificial intelligence have also played a significant role.
Trust Wallet emphasizes that the new protection complements its earlier security tools. The Security Scanner, introduced in 2023, analyzes the entire transaction before it is confirmed and warns users about threats such as phishing, malicious applications, or suspicious token access approvals. Address Poisoning Protection works even earlier—already at the moment when the recipient’s address is copied or entered.
