JPMorgan Chief Admits: I Was Wrong About Bitcoin

JPMorgan CEO: “Crypto Is Real”

Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMorgan Chase—one of the largest banks in the world—has changed his stance on cryptocurrencies. For years, he was known as a fierce critic of Bitcoin, calling it a “fraud” and claiming that digital assets were mainly used by criminals and money launderers. Now, however, he admits he was mistaken.

Speaking during a live appearance, Dimon said:

“I was wrong—cryptocurrencies are real.”

He explained that his perspective on blockchain technology and digital assets has evolved over time.

“I used to be skeptical about cryptocurrencies. But blockchain, stablecoins, smart contracts—all of that really works. JPMorgan even has its own digital coin, and I’m convinced these technologies will be adopted by everyone to improve the quality of transactions and customer experience,” he added.

Dimon also emphasized that digital assets are here to stay in the financial world. He believes that in the near future, all major banks will use stablecoins—cryptocurrencies pegged to traditional currencies, offering more price stability. JPMorgan is already using its own solution, JPM Coin, a blockchain-based payment system designed for corporate transactions.

Interestingly, despite Dimon’s earlier criticism of cryptocurrencies, JPMorgan has long facilitated large-scale crypto-related transactions for some of the world’s biggest companies. His recent change of heart therefore seems not only personal but also a recognition that blockchain technology has secured a lasting place in the global financial system.
