Cathie Wood Lowers Bitcoin Forecast
Cathie Wood Lowers Her Bitcoin Price Forecast for 2030
Cathie Wood, founder and CEO of ARK Invest, announced in a recent interview that she is lowering her Bitcoin price forecast for 2030 — from $1.5 million to $1.2 million.
She explained that the main reason for this adjustment is the growing popularity of stablecoins — digital currencies pegged to traditional money, which are increasingly used in developing countries. According to Wood, stablecoins now act as “tokenized cash,” serving as a practical tool for payments and value transfers. As a result, they are taking over part of the space once attributed to Bitcoin.
Nevertheless, Wood emphasized that Bitcoin still holds a unique position as a global, decentralized monetary network and a digital store of value. In her view, both institutional and individual investors will continue to gradually increase their exposure to Bitcoin. Over the long term, she expects the cryptocurrency to strengthen its role as a “safe haven” during times of economic uncertainty.
Wood also noted that this revised forecast does not reflect any shift in ARK Invest’s overall strategy toward cryptocurrencies. The firm still believes that Bitcoin will become one of the most important assets in the global financial system. The updated projection simply represents a more cautious — yet still optimistic — outlook on the future of digital assets and recognition of the rising influence of stablecoins.
