A New Chapter for USDC
Canton Network Introduces Private Stablecoin Payments with USDCx
Canton Network has become the first blockchain to implement Circle’s xReserve technology. This integration brings USDCx—a privacy-enabled version of USDC that keeps the stablecoin’s security while allowing sensitive transaction details to remain hidden. The result is a digital dollar that combines regulatory-grade safety with privacy features that matter to enterprises and financial institutions.
Unlike public blockchains, where every transaction is visible, Canton’s infrastructure enables settlement without revealing prices, transaction values, or participant identities. At the same time, Circle ensures that USDCx remains interoperable with other networks that support native USDC, without relying on third-party bridges. USDCx also maintains full value parity because it is backed 1:1 by USDC.
Canton Network was built for always-on financial operations. It already powers Broadridge’s technology for handling more than $8 trillion in monthly repo transactions and for tokenizing over $4 trillion in assets. With the addition of USDCx, institutions gain round-the-clock settlement for atomic swaps, treasury operations, and collateral management. In practice, this means instant and secure exchanges of tokenized bonds, repo agreements, and other assets, as well as discreet corporate payments—including payroll and B2B settlements.
Major institutions have already shown interest in this model. Earlier this year, Bank of America, Citadel Securities, DTCC, Societe Generale, and Tradeweb completed the first fully on-chain financing of U.S. Treasuries into USDC on Canton—conducted on a Saturday, outside traditional market hours.
The Canton ecosystem is also expanding through partnerships with Chainlink, Solv Protocol, and Alchemy Pay. These collaborations strengthen data access, asset-market development, and fiat-to-token payment rails. With the stablecoin market now exceeding $160 billion, USDCx is launching at a moment of strong demand for dollar-denominated digital assets.
