Cardano Sees Record User Activity Despite ADA Price Slump
Cardano records its highest user activity in years, even as ADA trades near its lowest level since 2020.
Cardano has reached its highest number of active wallet addresses in years, despite ADA falling to price levels not seen since late 2020.
According to Santiment data published on June 25, both user activity and social media discussions surrounding the blockchain have surged significantly. The trend is unusual, as growing network engagement has not been reflected in the token's market price.
At the same time, Cardano has attracted attention for reasons beyond its on-chain performance. Social media sentiment has turned increasingly negative following recent comments by Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson, who warned that some projects within the ecosystem may ultimately fail. He has also reduced his public presence, while ongoing disagreements over the allocation of treasury funds have further divided the community.
Despite the weak market sentiment, development on Cardano continues at a steady pace. The network consistently ranks among the most actively developed blockchain ecosystems, highlighting continued commitment from its developer community.
Santiment analysts note that similar conditions have occurred twice before. In both cases, a sharp increase in active addresses and social media dominance, combined with extremely bearish investor sentiment, was followed by a short-term recovery in ADA's price. According to the analysts, periods of excessive pessimism can sometimes signal a temporary market rebound, while rising network activity may indicate increased trading and investor engagement.
However, it remains unclear whether the current surge reflects an influx of new users or simply greater activity from existing ADA holders, as Santiment's data does not distinguish between the two groups. Regulatory uncertainty and the ongoing weakness across the broader altcoin market also remain significant risks. The coming days will determine whether the recent increase in network activity translates into a short-term price recovery or fades as quickly as it appeared
