Strategy Sells 3,588 BTC to Fund Shareholder Dividends
Strategy sold $216 million worth of Bitcoin to finance dividend payments for preferred shareholders.
Strategy has sold 3,588 Bitcoin worth approximately $216 million to finance dividend payments for holders of its preferred shares. The announcement was made on Monday by the company's co-founder, Michael Saylor.
Following the sale, the company holds 843,775 BTC and $2.55 billion in cash. The proceeds will be used to pay second-quarter dividends for the STRF, STRE, STRK, and STRD preferred stock series, as well as the monthly June dividend for STRC shares.
This marks only the third time Strategy has sold Bitcoin since December 2022. The company has long been known for its strategy of accumulating and holding Bitcoin over the long term, with asset sales remaining a rare exception.
The previous sale took place between May 26 and May 31, 2026, when Strategy sold just 32 BTC for roughly $2.5 million, at an average price of about $77,135 per Bitcoin. The latest transaction was significantly larger, with an average selling price of around $60,201 per BTC, indicating that Bitcoin's price at the beginning of July was considerably lower than it had been at the end of May.
Following Saylor's announcement, Bitcoin briefly fell below $63,000, approaching the $62,000 level before recovering some of its losses later in the trading session.
