Ripple expands AI tools for the XRP Ledger

Ripple is strengthening its focus on artificial intelligence. The company is developing AI-powered tools for the XRP Ledger ecosystem while actively recruiting engineers with expertise in generative AI.

As part of this initiative, Ripple has launched the XRPL AI Starter Kit, a toolkit designed for developers building applications in which autonomous AI agents can send, receive, and manage payments on the XRP Ledger. The solution supports the x402 standard, enabling payments through both XRP and Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin.

According to Ripple, AI agents are already capable of independently paying for computing resources, settling invoices, and executing transactions with minimal human involvement. Through the x402 standard, payments can be processed directly within internet requests. A service requests payment, the AI agent transfers funds via the blockchain, and once the transaction is confirmed, the process continues automatically.

The developer package includes access to the XRPL Docs MCP Server and Claude-based tools that allow users to create wallets, check balances, track transactions, and process payments. The goal is to simplify the testing and development of AI agent-driven financial workflows.

Ripple believes that both XRP and RLUSD can play a significant role in the emerging machine-to-machine payments market. XRP serves as the native asset of the XRP Ledger, while RLUSD is designed to provide more stable, dollar-based settlements.

The company highlights several advantages of the XRP Ledger, including settlement times of just three to five seconds, predictable transaction fees, and a built-in decentralized exchange. The network also supports payments across different currencies.

For now, however, USDC remains the dominant asset within the x402 ecosystem. According to data cited by crypto.news, USDC has been used in more than 120 million transactions and accounts for over $41 million in settled volume. This means Ripple is entering a market where competitors have already established a strong presence.

At the same time, the company is hiring for a Staff Software Engineer, GenAI Platform position in San Francisco. The role focuses on AI agent systems, memory architecture, workflow orchestration, model evaluation, security, and developer tools. This suggests that Ripple is not only creating products for external developers but is also investing in its own AI-driven solutions.

Ripple has not confirmed whether the new hiring efforts are directly connected to the XRPL AI Starter Kit. Nevertheless, the move aligns with the company’s broader strategy surrounding stablecoins, cross-border settlements, and automated payment systems. Earlier reports also revealed that Ripple joined more than 30 partners participating in Mastercard’s Agent Pay for Machines program, further underscoring its commitment to the future of AI-powered payments.
