Mitsubishi Bets on JPMorgan’s Blockchain
Mitsubishi adopts JPMorgan blockchain to speed up payments and follow tokenization trends.
Japanese conglomerate Mitsubishi Corporation is set to implement a blockchain-based payment system developed by JPMorgan Chase. The solution is designed to streamline cash flow across the company’s global operations and highlights a growing willingness among traditional institutions to embrace modern financial technologies.
The system operates within the Kinexys network, which enables near-instant transfers, runs 24/7, and reduces reliance on traditional banking infrastructure. Currently, the platform processes an average of $7 billion in daily transactions, with a target of reaching $10 billion. Since its launch in 2020, it has already handled over $3 trillion in total volume.
The importance of this partnership is amplified by Mitsubishi’s scale. It is one of Japan’s largest trading and industrial conglomerates, with operations spanning energy, manufacturing, and logistics. Last year alone, the company produced more than 883,000 vehicles.
Kinexys is also being adopted by other major institutions. Qatar National Bank Group has announced plans to use the technology for corporate payments, noting that transfers can be completed in as little as two minutes.
The platform’s development extends beyond payments. JPMorgan is working on an asset tokenization system called Kinexys Fund Flow, which is expected to cover areas such as private credit and real estate. Similar initiatives are being pursued by global players like BlackRock and Franklin Templeton, while Siemens has already issued blockchain-based digital bonds.
An increasing number of financial institutions are preparing for the rise of tokenization, particularly in the United States, where regulatory and technological shifts are encouraging adoption. Even organizations like Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange are beginning to integrate blockchain into their trading systems.
Mitsubishi’s move into blockchain technology signals that this is not a passing trend, but a meaningful shift in global business. More large corporations and financial institutions are adopting these solutions, recognizing their potential for faster, safer, and more efficient financial management. Blockchain is no longer an experiment—it is becoming a core part of the infrastructure that could permanently reshape how markets operate.
