Grayscale Names XRP the Leading Blockchain

Grayscale has identified XRP as one of the most important cryptocurrency projects, describing it as the leading blockchain for global payments. According to the asset manager, the largest blockchain networks are not direct competitors but instead serve distinct purposes, each designed for specific use cases.

In its latest analysis, Grayscale classifies Bitcoin as digital money, Ethereum as a platform for programmable applications, and XRP as a blockchain built for international payments. The report also highlights Solana for high-performance applications, Hyperliquid for around-the-clock on-chain trading, Chainlink for tokenization and oracle infrastructure, Sui for next-generation blockchain infrastructure, and Avalanche for customizable blockchain networks.

According to Grayscale, XRP was designed from the outset to enable fast and low-cost cross-border payments. Transactions on the XRP Ledger are settled within seconds, with fees typically amounting to just a fraction of a cent. These advantages have made the network attractive to financial institutions, payment providers, and fintech companies seeking efficient international settlement solutions.

Grayscale's assessment aligns closely with Ripple's long-term strategy of building a global payments network powered by the XRP Ledger. The ecosystem is also being strengthened by the introduction of the RLUSD stablecoin, which is expected to expand the role of XRPL within the global financial system.

Grayscale also notes that institutional investors are increasingly evaluating cryptocurrencies based on their real-world use cases rather than viewing them as interchangeable assets. From this perspective, the firm believes XRP has established itself as a leading blockchain for global payments.
