Doppler and SBI Expand XRP Lending Market in Japan
Doppler and SBI Digital Finance are building regulated XRP lending infrastructure for institutions in Japan.
Doppler Finance and SBI Digital Finance have entered into a strategic partnership to expand institutional financial services powered by XRP in Japan. The companies announced the agreement on July 13, with the primary goal of building regulated infrastructure for the country's digital asset market rather than launching products for retail users.
The partnership will focus on developing XRP-backed lending solutions, liquidity and collateral management services, and infrastructure for tokenized assets. The offering is intended for banks, investment funds, and professional financial institutions, while remaining fully compliant with Japan's regulatory framework.
The collaboration combines Doppler's technology for tokenized asset markets with SBI Digital Finance's expertise in crypto lending and institutional financing. However, the companies have not disclosed financial terms, a launch timeline, or the names of potential clients.
SBI Digital Finance currently operates the HashHub Lending platform in Japan, providing digital asset lending services. According to Doppler, its partner's experience in institutional risk management and lending will help accelerate the development of new products designed for professional market participants.
A Doppler spokesperson said the company's long-term vision is to establish digital assets as a fully recognized form of financial capital. For now, however, the announcement does not mean that new XRP-based products are immediately becoming available.
The agreement marks another milestone in Doppler's growing relationship with the SBI Group. In December 2025, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with SBI Ripple Asia to develop XRP infrastructure and tokenized assets on the XRP Ledger. In that initiative, custody services were provided by SBI Digital Markets.
Unlike the previous partnership, the latest agreement involves SBI Digital Finance, a subsidiary specializing in lending and financing solutions. It remains unclear whether the two projects will eventually be integrated.
The collaboration aligns with SBI Group's broader digital asset strategy. The company continues to expand its XRP ecosystem in Japan while investing in stablecoins, digital payments, tokenized bonds, and institutional investment infrastructure. More recently, SBI acquired control of the Bitbank cryptocurrency exchange following the integration of Bitpoint Japan into SBI VC Trade, and also led a $76 million funding round for EDX Markets.
For now, the initiative remains in the development phase. The companies have yet to announce loan interest rates, collateral requirements, additional supported assets beyond XRP, or an official launch date for the new services.
