SUI to Increase Token Supply on April 1
SUI will raise its token supply by 1.1% on April 1, testing investor confidence and ecosystem strength.
On April 1, the SUI network will face an important market test. Around 42.9 million tokens are set to enter circulation, increasing the available supply by 1.1%. While this may not seem like a large amount, the timing of the release could have a meaningful impact on market behavior.
Currently, only 39% of SUI’s total supply has been unlocked. This means that in the coming years, the market may gradually absorb additional tokens, increasing the risk of selling pressure. Events like this often influence price movements, especially if trading volume is not strong enough to absorb the new supply.
A portion of the unlocked tokens belongs to institutional investors and early project participants. In such cases, the market closely watches whether these holders decide to sell or retain their assets.
Despite these challenges, the SUI ecosystem is showing signs of resilience. Growing activity in the DeFi sector and an inflow of stablecoins are helping to offset negative sentiment and support demand. The continued development of the network and real-world use of its services may help limit the impact of increased supply.
However, analysts emphasize that this is only one stage in a long-term process. More than 60% of tokens are still waiting to be unlocked, meaning the project’s future will largely depend on its ability to attract new users and capital.
