Shiba Inu Joins New U.S. Crypto ETF
Shiba Inu Included in New U.S. Crypto ETF Filing
American investment giant T. Rowe Price, which manages over $1.7 trillion in assets, has filed an application with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch a cryptocurrency-focused Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) — one that notably includes Shiba Inu (SHIB). This marks the first time that SHIB has appeared in official documentation for a U.S.-based ETF.
The proposed fund, called the Active Crypto ETF, aims to track the performance of leading digital assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, Dogecoin, Cardano, Avalanche, Litecoin, Chainlink, Polkadot, and Shiba Inu. Unlike traditional index-based funds, this ETF will be actively managed, with the goal of outperforming the FTSE Crypto US Listed Index ETF.
If Shiba Inu is included in the fund’s initial portfolio, T. Rowe Price would be required to purchase and hold SHIB tokens, giving institutional investors indirect exposure to the cryptocurrency for the first time through a regulated Wall Street instrument.
For the Shiba Inu community, this represents a major milestone. Being mentioned in an ETF filing from such a prominent firm significantly boosts SHIB’s credibility — especially for a project long seen primarily as a “meme coin.” Potential token purchases by the fund could also increase demand, potentially strengthening SHIB’s market price.
The SEC filing also included details about the Shiba Inu ecosystem, describing SHIB as the most widely available token in the network. It also referenced related assets — BONE, LEASH, and TREAT — along with key ecosystem projects such as Shibarium and ShibaSwap.
Until now, Shiba Inu’s only regulated investment product existed in Europe, where Valour offers an SHIB ETP denominated in Swedish krona. However, T. Rowe Price’s filing marks the first recognition of SHIB as an eligible asset for an ETF in the United States. While this isn’t a Shiba Inu–exclusive fund, it’s an important step toward greater recognition and integration of the token within traditional financial markets.
