U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a historic $4.5 billion outflow in June, highlighting weakening investor demand.

Record Bitcoin ETF Outflows

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced the largest monthly capital outflow in their history during June, with investors withdrawing a net total of $4.5 billion.

According to data from SoSoValue, approximately $5.5 billion has already flowed out of these funds since the beginning of 2026. As a result, cumulative net inflows since the launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs have fallen to around $51.2 billion.

The biggest contributor to June's outflows was BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which accounted for nearly 79% of the total. The fund alone recorded net outflows of $3.55 billion.

The latest figures suggest that investor interest in U.S. Bitcoin ETFs is losing momentum. Although the funds have attracted more than $51 billion in net inflows since their launch, they now hold fewer bitcoins than they did a year ago.

Data from CryptoQuant shows that the total amount of Bitcoin held by U.S. spot ETFs has dropped below 1.25 million BTC. Julio Moreno, Head of Research at CryptoQuant, believes this is another sign of weakening demand for Bitcoin.

While cumulative capital inflows remain 4.6% higher than a year ago, the total Bitcoin holdings of these funds are now lower than they were at the same time in 2025. This suggests that investors have increasingly been withdrawing money from Bitcoin-based ETFs in recent months, reflecting softer market demand.
