Hoskinson Criticizes Ripple and New Regulations

Charles Hoskinson has weighed in on the controversy surrounding the CLARITY Act, clearly explaining why he opposes it. His concerns are not about how specific cryptocurrencies are classified today, but about the potential consequences of the proposed legislation.

In a recent video, he emphasized that the new rules could introduce a framework where most new projects are automatically treated as securities. In his view, this would mark a return to an approach previously used by regulators toward the crypto industry.

Hoskinson also criticized Brad Garlinghouse of Ripple, arguing that he supports a solution that could limit competition. According to Hoskinson, large companies like Ripple would be far better equipped to handle such regulations than smaller projects and startups, potentially slowing down innovation across the entire market.

Legal concerns are another major issue. Hoskinson pointed out that the law could strip developers—especially those working on DeFi projects—of important protections. In practice, this could mean facing unlimited liability for code, even if developers have no control over how it is ultimately used.

He stressed that such an approach could discourage programmers and significantly slow technological progress. In his opinion, regulations should not be designed in a way that inherently restricts innovation.

Hoskinson also addressed criticism from the XRP community, noting that he had previously supported Ripple in its disputes with regulators. He clarified that his current stance is focused solely on future regulations, not on Ripple itself.

The entire debate highlights the strong emotions surrounding legal changes in the crypto space. According to Hoskinson, the real issue is not the present situation, but the direction the market could take once these new rules are implemented.
