Bitcoin Helps Fund Congressional Campaign
Florida congressional candidate Michael Carbonara sold 10 BTC to help finance his campaign.
Michael Carbonara, a Republican candidate for Congress in Florida, has used part of his Bitcoin savings to support his election campaign. According to Decrypt, he sold 10 BTC earlier this month, converting the proceeds into approximately $800,000 worth of the stablecoin USDC.
Carbonara is not a traditional politician. Before entering politics, he built businesses focused on digital payments and financial technology. He is the founder of Ibanera and, in 2025, launched RōM, a U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin. Much of his campaign is self-funded through personal resources, including the sale of a portion of his digital asset holdings.
His involvement with cryptocurrencies goes beyond investment. Carbonara has consistently advocated for innovation, entrepreneurship, and the development of emerging technologies. As a result, Bitcoin has become one of the tools helping to finance his campaign and support his political ambitions.
Carbonara’s decision reflects a broader trend in American politics. An increasing number of politicians are paying attention to the cryptocurrency sector and expressing support for more crypto-friendly regulations. The reason is straightforward: digital asset holders now represent one of the fastest-growing voter groups in the United States. As their influence continues to expand, issues related to Bitcoin, stablecoins, and the future of the cryptocurrency industry are becoming a more prominent part of the national political conversation.
