Australia approves AUDD stablecoin on XRP Ledger

Australia has issued a financial licence allowing the stablecoin AUDD to operate within the country’s regulated financial system. The licence was granted to AUDC Private Ltd., enabling the company to offer financial services related to the digital asset.

AUDD is a privately issued stablecoin pegged to the Australian dollar. With the new licence, it may be used as a regulated payment instrument by financial institutions that comply with local regulations. The stablecoin operates on several blockchain networks, including XRP Ledger.

The Australian Financial Services Licence was officially granted on February 11, 2026. However, information about the approval only became public today.

It is important to note that AUDD is not an official digital currency issued by Australia. The token is created and managed by a private company, which means it is different from a central bank digital currency.

The licence also does not guarantee that Australian banks will immediately start using the XRP Ledger network for payments. Instead, it simply allows the stablecoin to function within the regulatory framework.

According to experts, the approval may help reduce earlier legal uncertainty surrounding the AUDD stablecoin. Clearer regulations could make it easier for financial institutions to consider using the token for settlements or holding it on their balance sheets if they choose to adopt it.
