Tether Seeks to Take Over Juventus

Tether, best known as the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, has submitted a binding offer to take control of Juventus. The company proposed acquiring a 65.4% stake in the club from Exor, the holding company owned by the Agnelli family. The offer is fully cash-based, and if accepted, Juventus would receive an investment of up to €1 billion.

However, the club’s majority shareholder has no intention of selling. The Agnelli family has made it clear that it is not interested in giving up control of Juventus. This position is consistent with earlier statements by Exor CEO John Elkann, who emphasized that while the company is open to partnerships, it has no plans to sell the club.

Tether already holds a significant stake in Juventus and is currently the club’s second-largest shareholder. Last month, the company also secured its first seat on the club’s supervisory board, marking the first time since 2001 that an entity outside the Agnelli family has joined Juventus’ governing bodies.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino has openly expressed his ambition to restore Juventus to its former glory. In an official statement, he stressed that the company’s goal from the very beginning was to support the team and help bring it back to where it belongs.

Juventus has not recorded an annual net profit for nearly a decade, and the club’s share price has fallen by around 28% this year. Although the Agnelli family has recently considered selling other underperforming assets, such as the media group Gedi, Juventus holds a special place for them. The club is deeply tied to the family’s identity, and selling it could spark significant controversy among fans.
