Tether forecasts $15 billion profit in 2025

Tether breaks profit records

Tether, the world’s largest stablecoin issuer, expects 2025 to bring another year of record-breaking financial results. The company projects a profit of around $15 billion, surpassing the $13 billion it earned in 2024.

According to Bloomberg, the company — headquartered in El Salvador — remains one of the most profitable businesses in the world on a per-employee basis. Tether’s success is driven primarily by the growing popularity of its token, USDT, the world’s largest stablecoin with a market capitalization nearing $186 billion.

Rising investor interest has captured the attention of the entire crypto industry. Tether is currently seeking to raise $20 billion in capital at a company valuation of $500 billion. Although CEO Paolo Ardoino did not confirm exact figures, he admitted that the company is in talks with “a select group of well-known investors” as it plans further expansion.

“We’ve been approached by an enormous number of firms wanting to invest in us. However, we need to determine a valuation that we still find attractive,” Ardoino said in an interview with Bloomberg.

Rapid growth in stablecoin adoption

Stablecoins — cryptocurrencies pegged to traditional fiat currencies — have seen a surge in popularity recently. One major factor behind this growth is the passage of the GENIUS Act by the U.S. Congress, the first law regulating the stablecoin market. The move signals that American regulators are increasingly recognizing the role of blockchain technology in strengthening the global position of the U.S. dollar.

Tether co-founder Reeve Collins believes this is just the beginning of a much deeper transformation. He predicts that within the next decade, most of the world’s currencies will be converted into digital tokenized forms.

“All currencies will become stablecoins. Even traditional money will take that form — just under names like dollars, euros, or yen,” Collins said during the Token2049 conference in Singapore.

The total market capitalization of stablecoins now exceeds $300 billion. Ardoino added that the USDt token already reaches about 6.25% of the global population, illustrating the scale of worldwide adoption of digital dollars.
