Crypto Regains Its Calm
The cryptocurrency market rebounds as signals from the US and China ease investor concerns
The crypto market finally caught its breath after recent declines, as investors reacted more calmly to the latest developments coming from the US and China. Following a phone call with Xi Jinping, Donald Trump announced that both leaders are planning official visits: Trump aims to travel to Beijing in April, while Xi is expected to visit the United States next year. The final location for their meeting is still being discussed, with Florida, Palm Beach, and Washington all on the table.
China’s Xinhua agency reported that Xi stressed the importance of keeping relations on a positive track after the recent summit in South Korea. He also reiterated China’s view that Taiwan’s return to Chinese territory is part of the post-war international order. During the conversation, Xi referenced the shared history of the US and China fighting against fascism and militarism.
Security and cooperation issues were also addressed. While the US does not take an official position on Taiwan’s sovereignty, it opposes any attempt to seize the island by force and continues to supply it with defensive military equipment. At the same time, the Trump administration expects Taiwan to increase its defense spending, and whether US troops would be deployed in the event of a conflict remains unclear.
The call came shortly after the announcement of a trade truce. The US lowered tariffs on selected Chinese goods from 57 percent to 47 percent, while China removed some restrictions on the export of rare earth metals. Trump added that Beijing has resumed purchases of American soybeans and assured that there will be no new delays or trade barriers affecting these commodities.
